I have been working diligently on my Christmas Cards for this year...I think I need about 45+ cards.  I was hoping to be able to send some to the Caring Hearts card drive this year.  I think this is a wonderful cause.

I will be posting my cards at some point, here are the most recent ones I have been doing. I have been posting the images on my Instagram page but I wanted to enter the Art Impressions challenge for this month.

I used Marvy Markers, Art Impression watercolor stamps, Tim Holtz watercolor paper and Gina K Designs sentiment and ink.

Deepest Sympathy - AI Watercolor Challenge

WOW, just realized how long it has been since I posted.  Well, here is the story.

My last post was September 15, 2015, just about 1 year ago.  Why is that relevant, well, my husbands grandmother, who was 88 at the time and who lived with us for about 6 years, fell and broke her hip.  Being her main caregiver, I needed to spend a lot of time with her while she was recovering. 

She fell again at the Rehabilitation Center about a month later and broke her other hip more severely than the first.  This recovery was much more intense and time consuming.  Needless to say, my crafting and posting were put on hold.

Sadly, she passed away at the end of April this year.  We are still digging out from lawyers, family obligations and cleaning out her apartment (addition to our house). 

But I digress.  So tonight I was looking at Art Impressions blog and saw they were doing a Watercolor challenge and thought this would be perfect to join in on.  I have been doing a lot with Instagram as it is easier and quicker than blogging.

I am OBSESSED with Art Impression watercolor stamps.  Here is a creation I did on a recent plane ride home.  I have been toying with creating cards for all occasions and selling them in my local gym.  I need more Sympathy cards, VOILA.

Sunflower Art

I made this piece for my husband's cousins new home. She likes sunflowers.  

The stamp is from Gina K Designs called "Stately Flowers 5" set.  

I colored it with Polychromos.  I was trying for an abstract type of background.

Flower:  Burnt Sienna, Terracotta, Burnt Ochre, Cadium Orange, 

Lt Yellow Ochre, Dark Naples Ochre, Naples Yellow,

 Lt Chrome Yellow, Walnut Brown

Leaves:  Chrome Oxide Green, Chromium Green Opaque,

Permanent Green, Leaf Green, Earth Green Yellowish,

May Green, Cadium Yellow Lemon

Background:  White, Lt Magenta, Manganese-Violet,

Lt Red-Violet, Violet, Purple Violet

Saturated Canary Graduation

I spent this past weekend coloring with my nephews.  It was so much fun.  I colored up this sweet Saturated Canary image with copics.

The background was done using stamps, clear embossing powder and ink.  I love making my own backgrounds to match my papers (papers and inks are all from Gina K Designs).  I quilled flowers to go on the front of the card.

I used my favorite go to red for her hair (E18, E08, YR18, YR 14) and skin (E50, E51, E11, E21, E23).  I used C9-C5, G29, G14, G28, YR24, Y15, Y11 for her outfit.  I created the wall, grass and sky (B00, B01, YG67, YG94, YG99, YG03)

 

 




 



Happy Anniversary!

I made this card for my Mom and Dad's 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday.  The image is from Gina K Designs colored with my polychromos.  I created a plaid background with my pitt pens.  I stamped the vase and created a little zentangle on it for something different.

I am entering this into the challenge over at Kit and Clowder.  This months challenge is Flowers.

Inked Pretty

This little sunshine is a digi stamp from Saturated Canary called Inked Pretty.  I just love all their stamps (not that you couldn't tell...LOL).  I colored this little cutie up with my copics.

I used my copic refills and colorless blender to create the background.  Not sure what project to put her on...stay tuned.

Saturated Canary Facebook Challenge

Here is my second entry for the Saturated Canary Facebook Challenge.  She is called Beach Pretty.  She is colored with copics (and my fantabulous coloring is because of my awesome coloring classes over at Kit and Clowder).

I used my embellishments from Kit and Clowder...just love them.  I embossed the background with an embossing folder and used my Gina K Designs Edible Eggplant ink pad to highlight it (Papers also Gina K Designs).  I did the same on the two accent pieces but I used Vintage Paper distress ink to highlight.

C'mon Summer....

Today I am posting my entry for the facebook Saturated Canary challenge.  This gorgeous creation is colored with copics. I used my new coloring skills from my classes at Kit and Clowder online classroom.

I loved coloring her up.  I used my distress inks and some sponge daubers for the background.

Sisters - A journey in mixed media

I colored this merged Saturated Canary stamp a while ago for my sister "in-law" - she is more of a sister to me.  I have been holding onto it trying to find the best way to present it to her.  I looked at 4x4 shadow boxes, regular frames etc but nothing really spoke to me. 

Then I was walking though Hobby Lobby and I came across these paper mache frames and I thought I can do that!

So I bought one...really cheap, only 2.99 and thought well if I screw it up no biggie.  So I watched a few of Gabrielle Pollacco (love her art) videos on YouTube to get some inspiration.  Here is the final frame that I created. 

I colored the Wild Orchid Flowers from I Brake For Stamps with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine Spritz in Gold, Pink, Lavender, and Blue. 

I created a texture paste (another DIY from Gabrielle)...smells good too...and my stencils for some texture along the sides.  The colors along the outside of the frame were done with Lumiere paints (and my finger). 

The metal flowers and rose are from Tim Holtz along with the walnut stain distress ink I used around the frame to age it.

I added some lace around the opening and VOILA...unique frame.  I hope she loves it as much as I do.

I have lots of cards that I made for Christmas and otherwise that I have clearly been neglecting to post on my blog.  I will try to show those as soon as I can.

New years resolution (AGAIN) is to be better at uploading to my blog and pinterest. 

Here is a card I made for a challenge over at Kit and Clowder classrooms.  I am taking a new class called animals.  I am practicing how to do fish right now.  I love this technique, it is so cool.

I used copic markers to color this digi stamp from Susanas Custom Art and Card Design.  The card stock and ribbon are from Gina K Designs.  The bubbles were cut out with quikutz.  I created a background using Technique Junkies Newsletter 2004 technique called Bubble Backgrounds.

Colors used:  E15, YR14, YR07, Y15, Y11 (Fish); C01, BG000, B000, B0000, Colorless Blender (background)

Camouflage This!

I purchased this Saturated Canary digi and couldn't wait to color him.  I have a friend at work whose husband is in the reserves.  I gave her this card for her son to give to her husband. 

He is colored with copics.  The background is done with the new Technique Junkies Sensational Stencil CD technique "Alcohol Stencil".  I love it because it allows me to match my colored image with my background.

I am entering this in Kit and Clowders Anything Goes challenge for October.

I colored this adorable Saturated Canary Stamp with copics.  I added some embellishments I cut out with my Silhouette.  I just love that saying...it is soooo true.  This card is going to a co-worker of my mom's who is going through chemotherapy.

I colored the image with copics.  I am still practicing

Happy Birthday - Make it Magical

I just love this stamp from Saturated Canary.  I did her up for this month's September Challenge over at Kit and Clowder classroom.

I colored her with copics (copied Alyce's magical card for the magic dust).

I watercolored the background and cut her out using the Technique Junkies Out of the Nestie Box technique with my spellbinders.  The background is done with an Impression Obsession stamp and distress inks.

I printed off sentiment and added some more distress inks.  I am giving this to my girlfriend for her 40th birthday.

Christmas in July

I have been messing around with mixed media lately and have done a few pieces and thought I would try to include it in my card making.  I used the technique junkies technique called glazed resist.  I think Christmas Cards will be extraordinarily fun this year.

Happy Graduation Amanda!!!

Tomorrow is my girlfriends' daughters' graduation party tomorrow.  She graduated from UNH this year.  WOW, how time flies.  I wanted to make her a card to celebrate.

 

Here is what I came up with.  Papers are from Gina K Designs.  The image from Saturated Canary "Graduation Girl 2012" is colored with copics.  Sentiment is from Stampin Up!, 2014 & Congratulations stamps are from Gina K Designs.

 

I used distress inks to distress the doily and the sentiment.  I used a technique junkies newsletter technique from October 2011 called Double Emboss and Cut on the matts for her and the sentiment inside.  I love the look of it...gives so much texture.

I saw it on google images and just loved it.  Thanks Jennifer...hope you don't mind.

 

Die cuts are from Memory Box and Spellbinders. 

I cut the leaves out of Paper Temptress metallic paper.

I quilled the roses, leaves and lilies.
